The Deepwater Bay Bed &
Breakfast overlooks some of the finest outdoor recreation opportunities in the
upper Midwest. Step down the hill from your cozy room, and you will be standing
at the shores of Deepwater Bay on Lake Sakakawea, known as one of the nation's
premier walleye fishing destinations. The ranch is located on the Lewis and Clark trail, and the expedition was in this area on their way west and again on their return. Lewis and Clark's Corp of Discovery spent the winter of 1804 nearby at their hastily constructed Fort Mandan, downstream from Deepwater Creek near the Knife River Indian Villages.
